A day trip around the Péreille gorges, accompanied by one or more donkeys.

An aerial loop, mostly shaded, offering a bird's-eye view of the gorges de Péreille. Climb through the forest to the hamlet of Coulzonne, with panoramic views of the Pyrenees, Montségur and surrounding area. Picnic near a cave and an orri (dry-stone hut), before reaching the Péreille cliffs where large birds of prey nest (9 km).

The equipment

If you're camping, you'll need to carry a lot more equipment and food than if you're staying in accommodation:

In tents: 1 donkey for 2/3 people; 2 donkeys for 4/5 people; 3 donkeys for 6/7 people.

In accommodation: 1 donkey for 4/5 people; 2 donkeys for 6/8 people.

(without children on the donkey's back).

To keep your donkey happy and fit, your luggage should weigh no more than 30kg per donkey, to which should be added the weight of the pack-saddle and your donkey's maintenance kit, i.e. a total of around 40kg to be carried by the donkey.
